Local knowledge from the heart of the rainforest

The Corcovado Foundation is our partner in Costa Rica and contributes unique field knowledge about the biodiversity of the tropical lowlands. Their ecological experts provide valuable input, stories from the field, and feedback on the content of our tropical rainforest book.

Together with EarthTale, they are developing a children’s book centred around the ecosystem of the Ficus insipida. In this story, children discover how this remarkable tree lives in harmony with unique animal species such as the kinkajou and the rare margay. A vivid and uplifting story that shows how plants and animals work together in the rainforest of Costa Rica.

Rugvin Foundation

Expertise in marine mammals and life in the North Sea

The Rugvin Foundation is our partner in the Netherlands and contributes in depth knowledge about the biodiversity of the North Sea. With years of experience in research on harbour porpoises, marine ecosystems, and education, Rugvin plays an essential role in the development of the content for the North Sea book.

In this title, the harbour porpoise, sometimes referred to as the “brown whale”, takes centre stage, a modest yet fascinating marine mammal that remains unknown to many people. Through this book, children discover how this cetacean lives alongside other species and how life in the sea is closely connected to everything that happens both above and below the water.

The Rugvin Foundation not only provides expert review of the content, but also contributes to the distribution and educational use of the book within the Netherlands.

Thanks to their local knowledge and strong international connections, they also support the distribution, educational use, and promotion of the books in different countries. In this way, Globeguards contributes to a global network of nature stories, supported by the people who protect nature every day.

Covirenas de Osa

Protecting nature in Costa Rica

Covirenas de Osa is a local organisation of nature conservationists and guides dedicated to protecting the rainforest in the southwest of Costa Rica. The organisation combines nature conservation with community development and plays an important role in preserving biodiversity in the Osa region.

Together with the Corcovado Foundation, they contribute to the EarthTale book about the tropical lowlands. Thanks to their local knowledge and close involvement, they provide unique insights into daily life in and around the rainforest.

Covirenas contributes real life stories and helps convey a powerful and positive message about nature conservation from the perspective of the local community.

Ouwehand Zoo Foundation

Protecting polar bears in the Arctic

The Ouwehand Zoo Foundation is committed to nature conservation worldwide, with a special focus on endangered species and their habitats. In collaboration with EarthTale, they contribute expertise and stories from the field for the book about the Arctic region.

In this title, the polar bear takes centre stage, an iconic and remarkable animal that plays a key role in the fragile ecosystem of the Arctic region, including Alaska and northern Canada. Children learn how these predators adapt to extreme conditions, how they depend on sea ice for hunting, and how climate change threatens their habitat.

The Ouwehands Zoo Foundation contributes to the ecological content, helps share local and scientific knowledge, and supports the educational distribution of the book.

The Ouwehands Zoo Foundation is committed to nature conservation worldwide, with a special focus on endangered species and their habitats. In collaboration with EarthTale, they contribute expertise and stories from the field for the publication about the tropical rainforest of Indonesia.

In this title, the hornbill takes centre stage, an iconic and remarkable bird that plays a key role in the fragile rainforest ecosystem. Children learn how these animals adapt to their environment and why they are essential to the balance of the forest.
